Human Resource Manager

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a progressive member cooperative in Northwestern Montana to hire a Human Resource Manager to join their dynamic team. This position will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function. This position will serve as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues; act as employee champion and change agent. This position will assist, anticipate and communicate HR-related needs.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel. Plans, organizes, and maintain activities of the department.
  • Participates in developing human resources goals, objectives, and systems in accordance with company’s mission and business strategy.
  • Implements and annually updates; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements.
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars as needed.
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed on personnel matters/issues.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on Human Resources issues.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements/employment law as related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Consult with location managers providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning. Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Supervises Payroll process and monitors timecards.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Compile payroll data to include but not limited to garnishments and recordkeeping
  • Compile and process necessary payroll records and reports to include but not limited to payroll taxes, unemployment taxes, BLS reporting.
  • Complete mandatory OSHA reporting.
  • Administers controlled substance and alcohol testing program.
Minimum Education:
  • B.S. degree in Human Resources / Management or a related field
  • SHRM-CP or PHR credential
Minimum Experience:
  • 5 Years’ Experience
