CHS Aligned Solutions is providing Selection Services to hire a Vice President of Agronomy with a member cooperative north of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
 
Company Overview:
Be a part of a team where your contribution leads to a successful, profitable Agronomy Division that is known for exceptional customer service, newer equipment, and facilities in excellent condition.  Located north of Eau Claire, approximately 30 minutes, the area supports exceptional school districts and near-by amenities.  The agronomy division has approximately 70 employees and this position will supervise at least 12 individuals (more seasonally).  This position will report directly into the CEO.
 
Position Overview:
The position is available due to an upcoming retirement and will be an outstanding opportunity for an individual to be mentored by the existing manager for a short time before his upcoming retirement.  Our ideal candidate will be customer-focused and have proven prior experience in both agronomy sales and management.   This includes being hands-on to evaluate each of the moving parts to ensure maximum performance is achieved. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Agronomy Division.  Provide coaching to salespersons, managing the financials and building relationships with vendors and customers.
  • Mentor, train and perform annual performance and salary reviews on all staff members of the department.  Keep the division fully staffed and trained to complete work level.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of billing, agronomic inputs, month end inventory counts, long and short product reports and maintaining the open positions on fertilizer.
  • Securing supply of all agronomic inputs of division.
  • Evaluate current business methods and make recommendations on building new business through marketing programs, on farm sales calls and multi-media.
  • Responsible for the financial success of the division, including full profit and loss responsibilities.  This role is expected to make a return on investment in this division which includes maintaining adequate margins on products and keeping expenses in budgeted parameters.
  • Safety and compliance of all building, equipment and staffing, including staying current on regulations.  Annual training as needed to be in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Participate in all senior staff meetings and provide support and input to other senior staff regarding decisions made as a group. Provide team support.
 
Additional Information:
