Agronomy Division Manager

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a successful member cooperative in Northwestern Minnesota to hire an Agronomy Division Manager due to an upcoming retirement. The Agronomy Division Manager will help build the sales team and continue the expansion of the division.

Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the agronomy division. The responsibilities involve supervision, marketing, inventory, purchasing inputs, setting sales prices, coordinating the storage, distribution and application of fertilizer, chemicals and seed, and the overall profitability of the agronomy division. In addition, this position will be responsible for service, maintenance, and other duties as assigned by the GM.

The cooperative’s growth is fueled by providing service and a great team of feed, grain, and agronomy personnel that works together to build solid relationships with their customers. All they need is the right manager to take advantage of these resources and continue the growth of their business.

Candidates with a background in managing a location with sales and operations responsibility will truly excel in this role. Experience working with seed and crop protection companies is important, along with your ability to lead and manage a successful sales team.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage vendor relations and sourcing of the Seed and Crop Protection products
  • Work with management team to coordinate the procurement and pricing of all dry and liquid fertilizer for the organization
  • Develop and grow a successful seed sales program
  • Analyze both global and local market trends to position your product lineup
  • Develop effective and market driven strategies and programs
  • Enable a solutions-focused sales team
  • Continue to grow and develop the retail sales team for the organization
  • Manage the daily operations and employees of the agronomy facilities
  • Communicate regularly with department staff, ability to ensure good operation. 
  • Comply with safety environmental laws.
Basic Qualifications: (Preferred)
  • Degree in agribusiness, marketing, or sales. (minimum 3-5 years related job experience may substitute for education)
  • 3 plus years’ experience in agronomy sales and/or management
  • Experience in managing an Agronomy department and supervising staff
  • Proven successful experience in managing the margins in the agronomy business
  • Previous experience managing a successful team of sales staff
  • Good overall business and customer service sense
