Sales Agronomist

CHS Selection Services is partnering with a progressive member cooperative in Northwestern, Wisconsin to hire a Sales Agronomist to join their dynamic team.  The company is in relatively close proximity to the Twin Cities metro area.
The Sales Agronomist and Service Specialist to increase sales, maintain appropriate margins, and provide excellent customer service.  The Sales Agronomist sells seed, plant food and crop protection products.  Will use soil testing and knowledge of products to make appropriate recommendations to patron farmers.  Seasonally may assist with delivery and application of agronomic products.
  • Promotes and coordinates the sales of crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, precision technology and all related services within the company credit and pricing policies.
  • Interprets soil sample results and makes appropriate fertilizer application recommendations.
  • Scouts fields and develops methods for control of noxious weeds, crop diseases, and insect pests.
  • Keep current on agronomic products, trends, problems, services, and resources to see agronomy products in an ethical manor.
  • Examines results of crop production studies to discover and enhance characteristics such as yield, quality, adaptation to specific soils or climates, and resistance to diseases and pests.
  • Studies crop production to discover best methods of planting, cultivation, harvesting, and effects of various climatic conditions on crops.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Education/Experience:
    • Bachelors or Associates Degree in a related field (Agronomy, Agriculture, Business Management) and 2 years of experience, or 5 years of directly related experience.
    • Candidates should have or be willing to obtain and maintain a CCA certificate as well as any other appropriate certifications including valid driver’s license and insurability at all times.
  • Strong customer-service focus with the ability to develop long term relationships with growers based on technical knowledge and trust.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to influence decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of precision agriculture software.
