Vice President of Energy

CHS Aligned Solutions is working with a progressive member cooperative in South Central, South Dakota to help hire a Vice President of Energy to join their dynamic team. This is a senior management position responsible for the company’s Energy Division which includes refined fuels, propane and bulk petroleum operations.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be tasked with providing services to residential and businesses in the surrounding area.  This position will focus on the structuring of staff, individuals, and self to maximize productivity and efficiency with the department and overall company in a team effort to gain significant profit for the department and overall company. Candidates must be strong in the areas of Cost and Budget analysis.
  • Will work directly with the SLT to establish goals and business strategies to leverage customer and brand marketing synergies for energy areas.
  • Develops and provides direction for assigned locations/operating units to ensure attainment of business plan for growth, profit and risk management. This includes energy programs such Energy Force, Usage Billing, Tank Programs, and others.
  • Review and analyze location department budgets, labor costs, P&L reports, financial reports, asset purchases, and develop strategic planning opportunities.
  • Create sales strategies for the energy division.
  • Review competitive pricing analysis reports and industry reports to make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Purchase energy products and be responsible for energy hedges and trades to ensure division is following risk management policies.
  • Develop and implement a system for monitoring and controlling inventory levels for maintaining pricing and inventory controls for bulk fuels and propane programs.
  • Manage refined fuels distribution and bulk fuel delivery to increase efficiencies and to improve service.
  • Complete timely performance appraisals for staff, coordinate staff training, and actively support employee growth through effective leadership.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in the area of business or a related field and two years of work experience in an environment involving refined fuels/propane or a similar field of expertise is required; or 5 years of work experience in a technical environment involving cooperative or project management or a similar field of expertise is required.
