Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Overview:
CHS Selection Services is working with a progressive member cooperative in South Central, Montana to help find a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their dynamic team. This is a key leadership position that will direct the organization’s financial planning and accounting practices as well as fostering the coop’s relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in handling accounting and financial analysis functions.
Other responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing, reviewing, and setting benchmarks for performance, cash flow management, analyzing operations for efficiency improvements, budget goal setting, and evaluating expansion opportunities.
  • Supervision, training, administration, information management/accounting system coordination, financial reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Be responsible for the long range planning of all finance, accounting, and other ancillary departments to successfully manage the company's financial resources.
  • Serve as lead to the HR function.
  • Establish financial strategies by tracking economic conditions; forecasting monetary requirements; assembling and approving budgets; attracting monetary resources and promoting new financial strategies.
  • Ensure effective and secure management of the company's financial operations.
  • Perform risk management by assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; maintaining adequate insurance to protect assets and cover liabilities.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in Business or Accounting, or 2-year degree plus 2-5 years of experience in related field.
  • Experience in Accounting & Data Processing.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with software tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior CFO experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisition analysis and integration.
  • Knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
