Sales Agronomist

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a successful progressive member cooperative in Southwestern Minnesota to hire a highly motivated and experienced Sales Agronomist to join their dynamic team.
 
Position Overview:
Our ideal candidate will be customer facing individual for developing new business while retaining old business who has strong skills in crop scouting, precision agriculture methods and crop protection products. You must have a strong skillset including building customer relationships, a drive to exceed customer expectations and a solid work ethic.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Promote the proper recommended use of crop protection products, seed and precision agriculture to customers to grow market share.
  • Frequent sales calls in the country working with farmers to develop relationship and learn customer needs.
  • Create and recommend specific agronomy programs based off of yield results, crop scouting and seed knowledge to customers.
  • Coordinate and lead the implementation of strategic marketing solutions
  • Understand the business functions of employee team and assist the team in improving the efficiency and profitability of the location(s) assigned.  
  • Coordinate with fertilizer applicators and tanks on the spreading, spraying and delivery of bulk fertilizer to assure the cost effective use of equipment.
  • Observe and enforce all safety requirements.
  • Ensure that federal and state regulations pertaining to chemicals and fertilizers are observed and adhered to.
  • Performs other duties or assignments as assigned or needed. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Two or four year degree in Agronomy or related field. (Relevant experience may be substituted for education.)
  • Certified Crop Advisor Certification desired
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Agronomy, seed, crop protection products and VRT
  • Strong knowledge of agronomy
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to form fast and positive business relationships 
 
3 years plus additional experience in the following areas:
  • Agronomy/seed experience
  • Scouting/intern experience
  • Plant worker experience
  • Agricultural background
